Are there any remedies for odorless bedbugs?

Choosing a remedy for bedbugs without a strong unpleasant smell

Funds from odorless bugs to find on sale to an inexperienced consumer can be quite difficult for the reason that in general there are not so many such drugs and they are not always on the shelves of stores. The overwhelming majority of bedbugs smell disgustingly, and the main reason for this is the strong smell of the insecticides themselves that make up the respective drugs.

However, without insecticides, the cure for bed bugs will not work, because an insecticide is the very poison that poison the parasites. Many quite effective remedies for bedbugs, which allow really quickly and often - at a time - to take them out of the apartment, are truly smelly. Among them are Tetrix, Karbofos, Cucaracha, Klopoveron, Clopomor.

Example: Cukaracha bedbug remedy has a rather high efficacy against parasites, but it also has a very unpleasant odor.

Bedbug insecticide remedy also belongs to the category of strongly smelling

Even the well-known Dichlorvos, which is used today very rarely, is smelly, and is still as effective in the fight against bedbugs as before. However, new versions of Dichlorvos appear on the market with a much lower odor level, but their effectiveness has not yet passed the test of time.

Indeed, many modern, odorless insecticides, which are sometimes used from bedbugs, are not tested for effectiveness. Let's look at this issue in more detail.

Odorless products

Generally speaking, there are quite a lot of funds that theoretically can destroy bedbugs, and which at the same time almost have no smell.

In general, there are quite a few insecticidal products that have a minimal odor level.

Among them:

  • Toxic insecticidal gels used in the fight against cockroaches and ants. They attract insects, contain toxic substances and natural bitterness. The latter are needed so that any other inhabitant of the room, from a cat to a person, could not even swallow a drop of such a gel. Against bedbugs, they are absolutely useless in the first place because bugs are simply not able to eat even a small part of a drop of such a gel: the bugs mouth apparatus is intended only for puncturing the skin and sucking blood. In addition, the parasite "will not even enter the head" trying to eat drops with gel - bedbugs are attracted only by the smell of the human body. Therefore, such odorless insect repellents will not be effective against domestic bugs.
  • Dusts like “Domovoy”, “Clean House”, “Feverfrom”. They either have no smell at all, or they smell very faintly and unobtrusively. They are moderately effective against bedbugs, but they can give a certain result when used: the majority of dusts, if accidentally hit the body of a bug, can have a contact effect, penetrating through the chitinous cover and poisoning the insect, even without entering its digestive tract. However, by themselves they do not attract bedbugs, and therefore to get rid of all the parasites in the room with their help can be difficult - there will always be a certain number of parasites in the apartment that did not fall into the scattered dust.
  • Crayon "Masha" and its Chinese counterparts. This remedy for odorless bedbugs works just like dusts, but due to its ability to be applied on vertical surfaces it can be used on walls, backs of beds and sofas. As a result, Masha, on average, destroys a greater number of bedbugs than powdered products, but it is also problematic to remove all insects from the apartment with its help: in order for a sufficient amount of poison to get inside the bug, it must be thoroughly soiled.

Insect dust Pure House has a faint odor, but, unfortunately, only moderately effective against bedbugs

Well-known chalk Masha, too, does not smell, but it is unlikely they will be able to completely get rid of bedbugs

Thus, not every remedy for odorless bugs will be quite effective in practice. And it is precisely because of their low efficiency that the industry is forced to produce other means that combine both the lack of smell and the effective destruction of bedbugs.

Effective remedy for odorless bugs

Somewhere at the junction of aerosol preparations and dusts, there is a remedy Geth, a microencapsulated preparation that is in fact an aqueous concentrate of finely dispersed chlorpyrifos. Insecticide microcapsules can remain on treated surfaces for weeks and easily adhere to the legs of the bugs, after which the substance will enter the body of the parasite and lead to its poisoning.

On a note

The active ingredient in the Geth means (Get) is Chlorpyrifos, which has a neuroparalytic effect on insects. This insecticide is known for its ability to contact action, so that it is effectively used in cases where it is not possible to force exterminated insects to eat the bait.

Due to the absence of volatile components in the composition of Geth he practically has no odor (except for the faint smell of orange perfume) and is not felt in the room after application. For quick and effective destruction of bedbugs in an apartment, Geth means must be applied not only in the places of their shelters, but also on those surfaces on which bugs can potentially move.

In general, in terms of the efficiency-odor ratio, Geth is today one of the best remedy for bedbugs.

Feedback

“I had never before seen the bugs in my eyes, and on the first day at the new apartment I thought that there were several cockroaches under the sofa. Only then I realized that these were bedbugs when they started biting me at night. Nightmarish sensations. I bought the next day remedy for bedbugs CucarachaI almost died myself while I was processing one room. Such a stinking crap that it is easier to suffer bedbugs. The most annoying thing is that after the Cucaracha they did not disappear, but about a week later they again began to bite me slowly. In the store, I found out that there is a Geth remedy that does not stink, but kills bugs well. I ordered it online. Normal turned out to be a drug. I pushed them to bed, wardrobe and sofa, the rest just released under the carpet. And the bugs are gone. Three months they are no longer there and I think they will not appear. ”

Rostislav, Penza

Chlorpyrifos is also used in professional preparations for the extermination of bedbugs such as Zindan and Bygon, it is also used in Raptor gels and traps. The latter, however, are very ineffective in the fight against bedbugs (unlike cockroaches, bed bugs do not attract poisoned baits).

Means with pleasant flavors

Some manufacturers went the other way and instead of eliminating the smell in the product they decided to disguise it with another, more pleasant and strong aroma.

For example, the line of insecticidal agents Combat has aerosols from bugs with the smell of mint and lemon. Their active component are pyrethroids, smelling less strongly than flavors.

In general, such tools are quite effective from bedbugs and can destroy them without the involvement of specialists. To do this, it is enough to spray the places where bedbugs can hide, such as beds, sofas and wardrobes with things, and then close the windows and doors in the apartment for a few hours and leave it.

Wet cleaning should be carried out upon return. For the most reliable result, such treatment should be repeated after 8-10 days in case the larvae hatch from the surviving eggs after the first treatment.

New larvae can be hatched from bedbug eggs, so processing should be done several times

Aerosols Raptor from crawling insects have a pleasant smell of mint and contain Cypermethrin, one of the most popular insecticides today, as an active substance. They are used for bedbugs in the same way as drugs of the Combat line.

Raid products are flavored with lavender and citrus flavors. However, after use, they leave a rather heavy smell of the insecticide itself in the room.

Feedback

“We were looking for some canister from bedbugs in the hostel so that it would not be very smelly. In the market, we were advised to buy Reid bedbug remedy. We took it, sprinkled the whole room, even the clothes. At first, the smell was pleasant, it smelled of some flowers, and then it was weathered and there was such a typical stench of Dichlofos that it was already sickening. But the bugs did have a break. ”

Michael, Odessa

In general, aerosol products with flavors are the most available - you can buy them in any store and in the markets, such drugs are more often used in everyday life by ordinary citizens. But, as practice shows, in terms of effectiveness, they are noticeably inferior to professional smelly preparations.

Offensive Products - Efficacy to Be Suffered

In cases where bugs are exterminated by professional pest control, very effective and strong odor products are commonly used. Among them are Tetrix, Sinuzan, Cucaracha, Zifox, Forsyth and others.

The remedy for bedbugs

Their main advantage is the possibility of complete destruction of bedbugs in an apartment in a few hours. After that, the parasites will be able to appear in the dwelling only from neighbors or from the miracle of surviving eggs of bedbugs, and then only in a few weeks.

Such efficacy of these drugs for most people turns out to be better than the lack of smell, and if you want to get rid of bedbugs as soon as possible, you should prefer them - it is better to suffer the smell for a couple of hours and then ventilate the apartment than to suffer for weeks while the bugs die on dusty and crayons.

Most of the folk remedies for bedbugs, used primarily for the prevention and temporary deterrence of parasites, also have a smell. Moreover, the sharper the smell of a particular substance, the more effective it is.

For example, turpentine and vinegar repel bugs better than decoction of tansy.

Turpentine, sometimes used for bedbugs, has a strong odor that can be considered pleasant only in low concentrations.

It should only be remembered that folk remedies will not completely remove bedbugs from the apartment, and therefore for the effective control of parasites is better to use modern insecticidal preparations.
