How can I safely remove wasps from the house, as well as from the dacha

It is not so difficult to bring out wasps who built their nest in a house or at their summer cottage, if you know how to do it correctly - we'll talk about it later ...

Next you will find out:

  • How can one quickly and efficiently remove wasps from home if they have built their nest here;
  • Reliable ways to destroy a wasp nest, even if it is in a hard-to-reach place;
  • How can you completely remove the wasps from the dacha with the help of traps made from ordinary plastic bottles;
  • How to kill wasps with poison baits that will be carried away by insects to the nest for feeding the larvae;

And other interesting nuances of fighting with wasps.

Common paper wasps often lodge alongside a person’s housing, creating many problems with their undesirable presence. For example, insects often equip their nests in attics, in sheds, under roofs of houses, in crevices behind wall claddings and balconies.

The photo shows a hornet's nest under the roof of a wooden house.

Wasps and hornets also love to make their nests in attics.

Even with one nest of wasps on the territory of the summer cottage, very few people will be able to feel calm,and by the middle of the summer, the insects usually become so numerous that they literally flood the entire territory near the house - so much so that it is no longer clear who is the owner on the site. Moreover, to come closer than 2-3 meters to the wasp nest is simply dangerous to health, because insects can one day take a person for a threat and attack with a whole swarm. Now imagine a small child who, without the supervision of his parents, decided to take a walk near the house ...

In some cases, it is necessary to remove wasps (and hornets) from a plot even when there is no nest directly on it, but insects often and in large numbers visit here and cause damage. For example, if hives with bees are located on the site, strawberries, cherries and grapes are grown - wasps often spoil a significant proportion of berries, and hornets actively destroy bees.

Sometimes wasps (and especially hornets) attack bee hives, causing them significant damage.

On a note

A squad of 20-30 giant hornets destroys a bee colony of 30,000 individuals in about 2 hours.

In all such cases, in order to bring wasps out of the house or from the site, use the following methods:

  • the destruction of the nest is the fastest, most reliable, but also a rather dangerous method of getting rid of an undesirable neighborhood;
  • Catching wasps with the help of traps, both self-made and purchased - the method is longer, but also very effective (especially with a large number of traps), while safe and not requiring serious labor costs;
  • the gradual destruction of the poisoned bait.

In order to quickly remove the wasps from the house or from any other country house, it is best to try to destroy the nest of insects. If the wasps settled, for example, in the attic, which is not visited by people, and there is no desire to approach directly to the nest, then traps and poison can be used to remove insects.

Close to such a nest can be simply dangerous to health ...

If the nest is not on the site, and insects arrive here only in search of food, then it is most reasonable to bring them out by traps or poisoned baits.

Sometimes the wasps do not arrange their nest on the plot, and only fly in, for example, with grapes or fallen plums.

Let's take a closer look at all these ways ...

We remove wasps from the house: we destroy the nest correctly and safely

In order to bring the wasps out of the house, you first need to find a place where they have placed their nest. In many cases, their home is located in fairly inaccessible places where it cannot simply be removed or burned.

For example, wasps can settle in the holes under the slate, between the siding and the wall, under the visor of the house.However, even with such an inconvenient (for us) location, it is quite possible to destroy the nest if you correctly approach this.

The photo shows a hornet's nest on a brick wall of the house.

But let's start with simple cases ...

If the rounded nest hangs under the ceiling, cornice, just on the wall and is mounted on a small foot, then the easiest way to get close to it is at night, when all the wasps are inside and are inactive: you need to quickly pull a tight plastic bag over the nest, tear off the leg paper ball from the point of attachment and tighten the neck of the package. It is useful before this to pour into the package any insect repellent, so that within a few hours all the wasps in it will die.

If the insect nest is attached to the base with a thin leg, then it will be easy to throw a plastic bag over it ...

On a note

Effective insecticidal drugs that allow wastes to be removed in this way are, for example, modern Lambda Zone, Get, Delta Zone, and Karbofos, which is somewhat outdated today, which, however, also works quite well.

In more difficult situations, the nest just to tear off from the place of attachment will not work. See the example in the photo:

But on such a nest throw package will be very problematic.

Another example of an awkwardly located nest in the attic of a house.

In these cases, the bag with the insecticidal agent poured in before is also tensioned onto the nest, but its neck is not tightened, but is glued with tape to the surface.Within a few days, all the wasps in the pack will die, and it can be thrown out along with the nest.

As you know, this option will require more agility from you. And it's far from a fact that the tape can be safely glued to a dusty, uneven surface, so think out in advance about your escape route.

“As we tried to get the wasps out on the plot, it was a whole epic. They started under the roof of the toilet, and when the husband tried to remove one of the metal shields, they immediately flew out to bite him. Bought a tool called Geth, from cockroaches use it. Made an emulsion, the husband handled the entire roof at night. Three days of waiting, it was clear that the OS was less, but there was a problem, as it rained every two days. We felt that there was not enough money for us for a week and we started making lures. They simply took spoiled plums, crushed them, put them in half plastic bottles and poured them on the same Goethe. Wasps on them flew just like that.

Five of these bottles were hung under the roof, and so that when it rains, the water does not flow into them. In a week, no wasps were visible at all! The happy husband climbed in there again to take off the shingles and throw out the nest, and from there again a whole swarm! He fell down the stairs and broke a rib.While I was in the hospital, I called the firemen, paid them 1,500 rubles, and they did everything themselves, took off the roof, took out the nest. And bait need at least a month to poison the os. "

Insecticidal Geth

Sometimes even more difficult is the situation when the nest is located, for example, behind a covering of a house or under slate, as a result of which it is impossible to access it. In this case, it is best to use any aerosol insecticide (Combat, Reid, Dichlorvos Eco, etc.). If for some reason this did not help, then you can consider another effective, but longer-lasting method of removing wasps.

Aerosol remedy for flying and crawling insects Dichlorvos Eco.

So, if the aerosol did not work, then you can spray the entrance to the shelter of insects with insecticides of contact action (the same Geth, Delta-Zone or Lambda Zone). Concentration should be increased. And then - with the regularity of once every two or three days it is necessary to update the layer of the drug. All wasps that will crawl on the treated surface will die within a few hours.

Modern insecticidal drug Delta Zone - well suited for the destruction of wasps.

Important!

In case of independent removal of wasps, all operations should be carried out in thick clothes with long sleeves, gloves and a beekeeper's mask.

When removing wasps for safety reasons, you should wear thick clothes, gloves and a beekeeper's mask.

In the most extreme case, when it is impossible to get close to the nest at all, you can call firefighters or pest control services. They will destroy the nest within half an hour for quite reasonable money and in general without the participation of the tenants of the house.

However, this is an extreme case, since the wasps can be brought out without access to their nest (see below about the traps and poison baits).

Destroying wasp nest in the area

At a distance from residential premises, the wasp's nest is sometimes destroyed in the following ways:

  1. Burn it, pre-poured gasoline. This procedure can be carried out if the nest is located on a brick building, in an earthen hole, between stones or building blocks. In no case can not set fire to the nest, if it is on a tree or on a wooden building.
  2. When the nest is located in the hollow of the tree, the insecticide solution is simply poured inside, and the entrance to the hollow is plugged with a cloth moistened with the same composition.
  3. The nest of the so-called earth wasps can be filled with water (sometimes boiling water is used, and so that insects do not climb out, they simply cover the entrance to the hole with a stone). Earthen Wasps - This is an ordinary paper wasp, just arranged their home in the ground.

The photo shows the entrance to the hornet's nest, located underground.

As in the house, all procedures for the destruction of the nest on the site should be carried out at night and in thick clothes that completely cover the body. These simple rules will help not only to destroy all wasps at once (after all, in the dark they are inside their home), but also to protect themselves from insect bites in case of failure.

On a note

To find a wasp nest on the plot, you should put fresh fish or a piece of meat in the open, wait for the insects to find food, and watch where they fly with pieces of prey. Adult individuals do not eat wasps, but feed their larvae. Therefore, with such prey, insects will fly straight into the nest.

Together with a piece of fish, meat or fat, the wasp will immediately fly to its nest to feed the larvae.

We catch traps os

In spring or early summer, when there are still not many insects in the nest, traps may become the main means of excretion of wasps (both from home and on the site as a whole) —in this, additional poisonous preparations may not even be necessary.

At the height of the season, the traps will perfectly cope with the “vaginal” wasps arriving at the site for food, as well as with the insects that have arranged their dwelling directly in the garden or vegetable garden.

A very effective trap from wasps can be made with your own hands from a simple plastic bottle. To do this, the cap is twisted off, the upper third is cut off, which is then turned upside down and inserted into the bottom of the bottle. Approximately in the middle of the resulting structure, small holes can be made for a handle from a rope or wire, on which the trap will then hang.

It is easy to make a highly effective trap for wasps on your own from an ordinary plastic bottle.

The cut off upper part of the bottle is inserted in the bottom neck down.

As a bait, sour jam, beer or kvass with sugar diluted with water is poured into the bottle. You can also put fermented sweet fruits (for example, rotted peaches or plums). It should be borne in mind that the fermented bait will not attract bees, which, of course, are not worth destroying.

A trap is set where wasps fly most often.

On a note

Some summer residents sometimes add to traps bait, boric acid, borax, or odorless insecticidal preparations (Lambda-Zone is quite suitable) - these means guarantee that within a few hours all wasps will be trapped in the trap, just like those single individuals who can get out of the bottles.And shaking out the trap with hundreds of dead insects is much safer than if they were alive.

The presence of an insecticidal drug in the bait will ensure the rapid death of insects trapped.

If there are many wasps on the site, several traps should be placed - up to one for every 20-30 square meters.

As the traps are filled with insects, they are cleaned and refilled with fresh bait.

With the help of these simple devices, wasps can be removed both from home and from any non-residential buildings. If the location of the nest of insects is known, then it is advisable to place traps close to it - this will allow the wasps to be brought out at an accelerated pace.

It is desirable to place the trap in the immediate vicinity of the nest of wasps - so to destroy the insects will turn out faster.

If for some reason it’s impossible to make a trap out of a plastic bottle by yourself, then you can buy it in the store - the purchased traps from wasps of this type work on the same principle.

An example of an industrially manufactured wasp trap (Muhoyar).

And here is another example of a trap for wasps and hornets.

On a note

Generally speaking, it was also possible to remove wasps from a house or from a plot with the help of so-called glue traps. They are sold in specialized stores, but you can make them yourself.

For this, Alt, RaTrap glue or any similar glue is applied on a sheet of cardboard, and a bait is put in the center - a spoonful of fermented jam or a piece of rotted peach (meat or fish can also be used). Such a trap is placed in a place where the wasps are most often and in the largest quantities.Insects flying at the bait will simply stick to the glue and will no longer be able to tear themselves away from it.

RaTrap glue is well suited for making sticky insect traps.

Sowing on such a glue surface, the wasps can no longer tear away from it.

Poison bait to kill wasps

Poisoned baits are made from the same products that are used to attract wasps in traps. Additionally, they are added to insecticidal preparations that are odorless - boric acid or borax (medium effective), or in small quantities Lambda Zone or Delta Zone (highly effective insecticides of lambda cyhalothrin and deltamethrin are almost odorless). For example, 3-4 bags of boric acid, 10 grams each, or 10 ml of Lambda-Zone preparation, are consumed per half-liter of beer or jam.

In a poisoned bait, for example, boric acid or another odorless insecticide can be used to kill wasps.

The finished bait is poured into saucers, plastic lids or cut off bottoms of plastic bottles, and simply placed in different places of the summer cottage or in a room near the nest. Those wasps that feed on it will die within hours.

Important!

You can not use sugar syrup or honey as bait, as they attract bees.

And finally, we note that in your war with the wasps you should not go too far. There are situations when these insects should not be destroyed.For example, if they fly into the site occasionally, in small quantities and keep mostly on flower beds and in the garden.

It should be remembered that wasps as a whole are not harmful insects and can even bring a lot of benefits to the garden plot.

Here, the wasps are destroyed by many harmful insects, and the damage to the vineyard or the strawberry beds from striped raiders will be clearly insignificant (in addition, this damage can be minimized using, for example, special mesh bags).

By and large, without obvious threat from wasps, it is better for human health to live in harmony with these insects (as well as with others), rather than burn them with fire, poison them and pour boiling water - simply because they decided to arrange their home nearby. From your.
