It is possible to get rid of pubic lice mechanically only by completely shaving the hair infested with lice. The use of special combs for combing lice and nits in such cases is much less effective than when removing head lice.

There is another type of means, for example, based on Dimethicone. This substance (liquid silicone) clogs the respiratory tract of the lice and causes suffocation. For a person, Dimethicone is completely safe, and in some diseases it is even prescribed for oral administration.

The following are the main forms of release and the names of some tools to combat pubic louse:

• Creams and ointments - Nittifor, Knicks.Enough time-consuming to apply, but give a good result. Benzyl benzoate is also good - an ointment intended to combat scabies, but no less effectively destroying lice (after applying lice to the hair, they die within 3–4 hours, but this remedy does not work on eggs).
• Lice shampoos are easy to use and quite effective. The most famous are Parazidosis, Pedilin, LiceGuard.
• Sprays - besides insecticides, Dimethicone is often used in them (for example, in the Nyuda and Paranit sprays).
• Concentrates of dilutions for dilution are perhaps the most effective, but also the most dangerous when used improperly (Medifox, Medilis, Avicin).

Before being treated for pubic lice, it is useful to first thoroughly deal with the contraindications of the respective drugs and only then choose exactly how to infer the parasites. For example, pubic lice shampoos with Pedilin and ParaPlus aerosol (they contain malathion, which destroys not only adult lice, but also nits) can give a good result, but these drugs are not suitable for everyone and not for every age.

Folk remedies for pubic lice

Folk remedies for pubic lice can be divided into two types: really effective and just scaring. The action of the former resembles the effect of synthetic insecticides, while the latter simply have a specific odor, which creates lousy uncomfortable living conditions.

Obviously, since lice cannot leave the hair on the host’s body, it is generally meaningless to scare them away: they will not run away anyway (unless new lice crawl onto the body). Therefore, various essential oils, as well as birch tar for the treatment of pubic lice are not suitable.

Effective folk remedies for pubic lice are kerosene, denatured alcohol, vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, dust soap, than mexican water, decoction of tansy, and, to a lesser extent, sulfuric ointment. Insecticidal drugs, many of them are significantly inferior in safety. So, kerosene, vinegar, technical alcohol and hydrogen peroxide have such a strong effect on human skin that they can easily cause a burn. Dust soap contains DDT - one of the most dangerous insecticides for humans, which can stimulate the development of cancer and genetic mutations.
